The EAST VILLAGE WRITERS WORKSHOP hosts inspiring, constructive workshops for whatever you write: novels, short stories, flash fiction, literary non-fiction, poetry or screenwriting. We also provide individual editing for any writing project. EVWW supports both dedicated and exploring writers in their real lives with both in-person and Zoom workshops, and even childcare for parent writers. It takes a village to raise your writing.
EVWW "No Excuses" Workshops foster writers with real lives anywhere in the world. We provide on-site, non-disruptive childcare for parents and caregivers of young kids; Zoom options for those who can't meet in person; in-person workshops for those who crave community; and one-on-one coaching and editing for those who want to work more intensely or individually on any writing project. In-person workshops currently in NYC and LA, and expanding!
Workshops are lively and supportive. Writers help each other achieve their own vision for their pieces, calling always upon the elements of the craft (character, theme, plot, setting, style...). You'll glean new ideas and stretch your writing muscles with weekly exercises, and read revered published writers as pertain to your work. Many form life-long friendships that keep writers inspired and thriving.
Individual coaching and editing can range from intensive editing to more general critiques, at the writer's choice.
The EAST VILLAGE WRITERS WORKSHOP (AKA East Village Fiction Workshop) started as a gathering of writers in Karen Moulding's small Manhattan apartment.
With an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University; publications in short fiction; novel awards; ample experience editing both fiction and non-fiction; and years of teaching experience at the Westside YMCA Writers Voice, Gotham Writers Workshop, and Columbia University, Karen brings inspiration and enthusiasm to the EVWW workshops and individual coaching.
